Nit de Sant Joan

Nit de Sant Joan
June 23rd. (Same date every year)
Like Bonfire night in England, but in the summer and on sandy beaches! Nit de Sant Joan means Night of John the Baptist.
From the moment the sun sets, its none stop fireworks and bonfires until the crack of dawn on the 24th, which is Saint John’s Day, a public holiday in Barcelona. The main activity is down by the beaches. Tens of thousands of people party on the seafront, setting off their fireworks and lighting bonfires on the beach. It really is a sight to see and an event to be part of. There is a beach party at the gay beach from around 11 pm to dawn.
