It is usually the first place people go, when they arrive in Barcelona, for its many interesting sights. It is a 1.2 kilometer (0.75 mile) long, tree lined pedestrian street, lined with market stalls, souvenir kiosks & street performers. It runs from Plaça de Catalunya in the city centre to the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell.
Unfortunately, it is a major attraction for pick-pockets, so exercise extreme caution with your valuables, even when you go into any shop or cafe along the way.
To its east is Barri Gòtic the Gothic Quarter, the centre of the old city of Barcelona. The Barri Gòtic is a labyrinth of narrow streets with quaint shops. Barcelona Cathedral & the Palau de la Música Catalana, are in there.
Port Vell is at the southern end of La Rambla, where you’ll find L’Aquarium de Barcelona and the beaches.
Metro: Plaça Catalunya (North end of Les Rambles)
Metro: Drassanes (South end of Les Rambles)
